This person will have strong experience in leading and fulfilling both PR and social media strategy to strengthen awareness and engagement. We need someone who gets the brand and our values, and is confident and knowledgeable in representing these in everything they do. This person is a confident communicator, great at building relationships, and is a motivating force across the business to promote the brand both internally and externally. They thrive working on multiple projects at any given time, with strong instincts for proioritisation relative to business value.

We need this person to be ambitious in seeking and making the most of valuable opportunities to demonstrate the Abel & Cole brand. Though PR and social media are at the core of the role, we have exciting ambitions for what else this person would be keen and able to work across to drive brand understanding and equity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be our frontline contact for all things related to PR – working directly with press as well as with nominated external resource: to effectively and promptly respond to inbound enquiries, pull together exciting orders for press and influencers, fulfil proactive PR campaigns and leverage digital PR opportunities.
  • Be our ear to the ground on all social channels: spotting opportunities, reporting on trending topics, engaging with the Abel & Cole community (excludes Customer Service-related response), and leveraging and supporting brand ambassador profiles.
  • Work closely with senior and cross-department colleagues to protect brand reputation.
  • Work with our in-house Content team to plan, produce, schedule and monitor standout creative content.
  • Work with both Content and Growth Marketing teams to provide united understanding of social media performance, driving continual improvement in audience engagement.
  • Champion and drive ways to bring our brand values and mission to life at every turn – constantly on the look out for opportunities to reach our target audience in the most impactful ways – from partnerships and sponsorship, to events and editorial.
  • Seek and fulfil on a calendar of awards we can enter to celebrate achievements by Abel & Cole and the team, across the business.
  • Support on the regular brand health tracking insight we run with a third party, to inform and measure brand strength strategy.
  • Lead on adhoc brand/campaign development research as required, feeding into campaign briefing process.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in similar role/responsibilities, either brand or agency side
  • You’re a strong writer, with experience writing effective press releases, and adapting style and tone accordingly.
  • You have social media experience and can demonstrate understanding how to effectively improve social media performance. You ideally have used scheduling tools to plan out content.
  • You get a thrill from working at pace, juggling changing priorities to respond to incoming enquiries.
  • You love being organised and prepared, and have both an eye for detail and a get-stuck-in attitude.
  • Effective communication across multiple departments and senior stakeholders, and for contributing to positive team culture
  • Understanding and talking with passion about Abel & Cole and sustainability
  • Working proactively and identifying opportunities/risks with own initiative
  • Strong instincts for how to best demonstrate and represent the Abel & Cole brand
  • Act as an ambassador for our B Corp values: make all decisions with our social and environmental impact in mind and look for opportunities, no matter how small, to use our business as a force for good.

What we offer

This is a full-time position Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. The role is based in our Wimbledon office, SW17 OHB. Whilst we have Agile Working in place, there will be a requirement for some work activities to be undertaken from the Wimbledon office. Therefore, the number of days working from the office will fluctuate week to week. This role will also require some weeks to flex for out of hours events.

  • Up to salary of £32k per annum (FTE)
  • 30 days holiday inclusive of Bank Holidays (FTE).
